¡QUIEREN DESTRUIR EL PAISAJE DE RONDA CONSTRUYENDO UNA CARRETERA EN UN SUELO NO URBANIZABLE DE PROTECCIÓN INTEGRAL!

¿Te imaginas lo que sería asomarse desde las murallas de la ciudad histórica de Ronda, para encontrarte con una carretera de doble sentido, un puente de vigas de hormigón tan largo como el Puente Nuevo (71m) y miles de coches y autobuses circulando por ella, generando ruido y contaminación en este actual remanso de paz?

El 30 de mayo de 2024, el Ayuntamiento de Ronda aprobó inicialmente el proyecto del llamado “Vial Alternativo”, que supone el corte del Puente Nuevo en sentido sur-norte y la construcción de una nueva carretera de doble sentido, con 3 rotondas y un gran puente de hormigón de 71m de longitud, para desviar el tráfico de miles de coches desde el barrio de San Francisco hacia los barrios de Padre Jesús, Fraternidad, Cruz de San Jorge y San Rafael. 

Las obras afectarían gravemente una de las zonas más hermosas y emblemáticas de Ronda, en un SUELO NO URBANIZABLE DE PROTECCIÓN INTEGRAL, a los pies de las murallas de la ciudad y de los Baños Árabes. Además, el proyecto crearía caos circulatorio en unos barrios que no están preparados para absorber diariamente miles de coches.

Desde la Plataforma en Defensa del Arroyo de las Culebras y su Entorno, estamos de acuerdo en que es necesaria una limitación del tráfico en la zona histórica de Ronda, pero no compartimos la solución aportada por el Ayuntamiento. En este sentido, creemos que hay medidas alternativas, con sentido común, más sostenibles, con un coste infinitamente menor, que respetan el patrimonio natural, histórico y cultural de nuestra ciudad y que se pueden introducir desde ya:

- Mejorar/ampliar la circunvalación actual, sin necesidad de intervenir en zonas naturales sensibles, incluyendo el soterramiento parcial de la rotonda de entrada junto al parque de bomberos.

- Mejorar el muy deficiente servicio de transporte público actual.

- Crear rutas escolares seguras a pie o en autobús.

- Evaluar permitir el acceso en coche a determinadas zonas exclusivamente a los residentes locales.

Es fundamental que protejamos nuestro entorno natural y cultural para las generaciones presentes y futuras.

THEY WANT TO DESTROY THE LANDSCAPE OF RONDA BY BUILDING A ROAD IN A NON-DEVELOPABLE LAND OF INTEGRAL PROTECTION!

The alternative road will affect one of the most beautiful and emblematic areas of Ronda. It is urgent to say ‘NO’ to the construction of this road on NON URBANIZABLE LAND OF INTEGRAL PROTECTION! 

Can you imagine what it would be like to look out from the walls of the historic city of Ronda, to find a two-way road, a concrete girder bridge as long as the Puente Nuevo (71m) and thousands of cars and buses driving along it, generating noise and pollution in this current haven of peace?

On the 30th of May 2024, the Ronda Town Hall initially approved the project of the so-called ‘Vial Alternativo’, which involves the cutting of the Puente Nuevo in the south-north direction and the construction of a new two-way road, with 3 roundabouts and a large concrete bridge of 71m in length, to divert the traffic of thousands of cars from the San Francisco neighbourhood to the neighbourhoods of Padre Jesús, Fraternidad, Cruz de San Jorge and San Rafael. 

The works would seriously affect one of the most beautiful and emblematic areas of Ronda, on NON-URBANIZABLE INTEGRAL PROTECTION LAND, at the foot of the city walls and the Arab Baths. Furthermore, the project would create traffic chaos in neighbourhoods that are not prepared to absorb thousands of cars every day.

From the Plataforma en Defensa del Arroyo de las Culebras y su Entorno, we agree that it is necessary to limit traffic in the historic area of Ronda, but we do not share the solution provided by the City Council. In this sense, we believe that there are alternative measures, with common sense, more sustainable, with an infinitely lower cost, which respect the natural, historical and cultural heritage of our city and which can be introduced from now on:

- Improve/extend the current ring road, without the need to intervene in sensitive natural areas, including the partial undergrounding of the entrance roundabout next to the fire station.

- Improve the current very poor public transport service.

- Create safe school routes on foot or by bus.

- Evaluate allowing car access to certain areas to local residents only.

It is essential that we protect our natural and cultural environment for present and future generations. 

Say ‘no’ to the construction of the alternative road.
